Is it a pleasant distraction?

Joyce laughs.

“No. We've got serious business to do here, and we need to stay focused on our job at hand,” Joyce tells us.

ML: “Right?”

DJ: “Yeah.”

ML: “Is it a pleasant distraction?”

Joyce laughs.

DJ: “No, it’s, we've got serious business to do here, and we need to stay focused on our job at hand.”

ML: “Yeah?”

DJ: “It's great for you guys, though."

ML: “No, I'm over it. Like, are you a little pissed at us for really throwing y'all under the bus? Like he could have sent that tweet the week you were negotiating."

DJ: “So, you know, it's one of those things where, if that's way felt, yeah, he should have brought it up earlier.”

ML: “Yeah?”

DJ: “You know, it's passed, and, as I told folks, when we were going over it, this is just the chassis. But coming back from the Senate is the vehicle. Then you're gonna determine whether to buy the vehicle.”

ML: “Yeah?”

DJ: “But, you know, we gotta at least put the chassis in play so we know what we're gonna get.”

ML: “You're not worried…?”

DJ: “It’s tough we gotta wait for the Senate to cure our stuff.”

ML: “Are you worried some of your members are gonna be — or that they were just forced to walk the plank, kind of like [former Speaker Nancy] Pelosi made her members do on climate back in the day?”

DJ: “I think we're — there's probably a lot of people who are doing the same thing, realizing that this is a partial package, that we're just keeping it in play.”

ML: “Just a start? Preciate ya.”

DJ: “Alright, Matt. Have a good one.”

Joyce starts walking back to his office.

ML: “Have a good one, sir.”

Laslo walks back to the Capitol.
